Granite Subwoofer Top

Granite Subwoofer Top

I’m almost done building the second one of these. The minimalist construction (dowels bracing, single baffle), yields a somewhat light cabinet. Serving to both minimize the area I need to finish (coming soon), and to add significant weight to the enclosures, I will be topping them both with 3cm granite.   These will be cutContinue Reading

EQing the SI 18D2

Build log for this sub begins HERE. With a 3.67 year old, the only time my house is reliably quite is at night. Last night was my third is the last week of evening spent making pink noise and sine wave sweeps. My wife is sweet to tolerate it. The first few times I will writeContinue Reading

Stereo Integrity HT-18D2 [design/build] 3 of 3

Continuing from HERE. 12/19 – Attaching the dowels to the baffle I started by placing the baffle on the box – face up. Added the PL to the dowel, carefully avoiding the hole. Then lifted the baffle to put the dowel in place. I kept the baffle raised slightly until I got the bolt started,Continue Reading

Stereo Integrity HT-18D2 [design/build] 2 of 3

Continuing from HERE. Final non-baffle dowel installed. The driver cutout for the baffle is complete. The next step is to work on the dowels that will tie the driver to the cabinet – I need to make a jig to drill straight 3/8″ holes in the dowels to receive the threaded inserts.        Continue Reading

Overnight Sensations 2 of 2

Overnight Sensations 2 of 2

Second pair complete. Mostly the same finishing technique as the first pair. The only difference was that I used a spray poly for the last few coats. It turned out okay. Certainly good enough for computer speakers.                Continue Reading

Foam Speaker Grilles

Foam Speaker Grilles

I’ve been meaning to give these grilles some attention.  I happened to be browsing the Parts Express tech forums when the proprietor of this foam speaker grille company offered his services to a few DIYers for no charge.  I had been struggling with ideas for my grilles, so I took him up on the offer. I wantedContinue Reading
